The idea of hell is a scary thought for some people and indeed it should be.  Some try to say that Hell does not exist.  But Hell does exist and it is a real place, a place of eternal punishment.  The bible says in Matthew 10:28, ” And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.”   Hell is described as everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41 KJV).   The devil and Lucifer are the same person.

God created Lucifer, a beautiful, sinless, perfect creature. He was an angel, a cherubim.  He abode in Heaven with God. But Lucifer sinned against God and became a sinful creature, no longer perfect. “Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God. … Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God. … Thou wast perfect in thy ways till iniquity wast found in thee.” (Ezekiel 28:11b-15,KJV).

But  Lucifer rebelled against God and tried to usurp God’s throne. His rebellion was fueled by pride.  Lucifer failed in his attempt at usurping God’s throne and was cast out of heaven. “How art thou fallen from heaven O Lucifer, son of the morning! … For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high.  yet thou shalt be brought down to hell to the sides of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:12-15 KJV).    Sin transformed Lucifer from the beautiful angel God had created into Satan (adversary) or the Devil (accuser).  The angels who rebelled with Lucifer were also corrupted by sin.  They were also cast out of heaven and sin and become demons. ” And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:9, KJV).

God created Adam, the first man, in the image of God and placed him in the Garden of Eden.  God also created Eve, the first woman and gave her to Adam as his wife. The Devil, seizing the opportunity, appeared to Eve and tempted her to sin against God by disobeying God’s command about not eating the forbidden fruit.  Eve succumbed to temptation and ate the fruit which God had commanded them not to eat.  She gave of the fruit to Adam and he also ate of it.  This story is recorded in Genesis2:7-3:6. This act of disobedience plunged the entire human race into sin because every person born after Adam came from his bloodline and inherited Adam’s sinful nature.   Therefore, the entire human race became  guilty of sinning against God and the end result of sin was death.  ” Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned”(Romans 5:12, KJV).  But God had a plan and God intervened to save man sin and eternal punishment in Hell.  This plan included the Atonement.

The Greek word for ‘atone’ is ‘kapar’ which means “to cover over, propitiate or pacify.”  Sin brings the wrath of God.  Also, everyone who is born is born into sin.  So something had to be done to pacify God’s wrath and to cover sin.  Sin also brought death,”…the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).   So the atonement consisted of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, becoming a substitution sacrifice for sin. Jesus died for the sin of the entire world and by His death, He was able to save man from horrible, horrific, and eternal  punishment in hell.  ” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).  Jesus died and paid the price for sin so that you do not have to. Consequently, because Jesus died and paid the price for your sin, He bought you with his blood and you now belong to Him.

However, it is your decision to accept or eject Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. If you accept it, all your sins will be forgiven and you become a new creature. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” Romans 5:17, KJV)  But if you reject Jesus’ sacrifice, all your sins will not be forgiven. If you die without having your sins forgiven, you will go to hell, a place of eternal punishment. Only Jesus can forgive your sins and save you from Hell. Jesus says ” I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me” (John 14:6, KJV). But you must accept Him and His sacrifice on the cross.  His death means that you can have life.  Refusing to accept the lord Jesus Christ means that you will have to pay the price for your own sin and no man, woman, or child is qualified to do that.  It took someone who was sinless to atone for sin and Jesus is the only one who qualified to atone for sin. Jesus is the way. Why not trust Him and invite Him into your heart and life.  Ask him to forgive of your sin and He will.  When you do this, all your sin will be forgiven and atoned for. It is your decision.  I urge to make a wise decision and surrender your life to Jesus today.

The Barren Church (Part 1)

barrenThe word ‘barren‘ brings to mind childlessness or an inability to conceive or produce.  Every creature God has created has the ability to produce after its own kind.  A barren woman was looked down on in ancient biblical times.  The church, which is called the Body of Christ or the Bride of Christ is no different.  Jesus completed his ministry over two thousand years ago,  died on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven, but he left his church to continue the work that he started.  Jesus’ parting command to his disciples was “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,…”Matthew 28:19, NIV).  When Jesus commanded his disciples to “Go and make disciples,”  he was commanding them to produce after their own kind. Therefore, Jesus never intended for his church to be barren or unfruitful.  Fruitlessness is unnatural for the Body of Christ and should never be accepted as the norm or the way things are supposed to be.  A barren church is a church refuses to obey the commands of the lord Jesus Christ.  Such a church does not teach the the Word of God wholeheartedly and does not rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Such a church cannot win lost souls to Jesus because the lives of individuals are also barren and do not display the fruit of the Spirit(Galatians 5:22-23).

The body of Christ is supposed to be fruitful, not fruitless or barren.  A fruitful church accomplishes two things: God the father is glorified and the church is identified as the disciples of Jesus, “Herein is my father glorified, that ye bare much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples,” (Matthew 15:9, KJV).  The church bares much fruit by abiding in the vine, which is Jesus Christ. Jesus says,”I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:..”(John 15:5, KJV).  Abiding in Jesus means doing  His will wholeheartedly by obeying his commands. Jesus abides in you when you make Jesus lord and master of your life.  You life becomes fruitful with your obedience to the Word of God.  Conversely, your life becomes fruitless or barren with you disobey God’s commands.   However, there are serious consequences to being  barren.

A barren church is in danger of having the Holy Spirit depart.  When this happens, the church no longer has the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  A barren church is also in danger of dying.  The barren church may look  good on the outside and still be dead.  The barren church may even have a nice choir and nice  programs in place that appear to be working, and still still be dead.  The church of  Sardis in the book of Revelations, was a church that appeared to be alive, but was actually dead; “And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead” (Revelations 3:1,KJV). The reason why the church died is summed up in the next verse,” …I have not found thy works perfect before God” (Revelations 3: 2,KJV). The word ‘perfect’ in the previous verse means ‘to make replete’. The church in Sardis died because they were not doing everything that Jesus commanded them to do.  The church was disobedient and disobedience brings fruitlessness.  Fruitlessness in a church results in a barren church.  A disobedient church becomes a barren church and a barren church will eventually die.

An individual’s life can also be barren.  Saul, the first king of Israel, was a king who refused to obey God fully.  He was constantly a t war with the prophet Samuel  because of his disobedience to God.  Saul’s life did not display any fruit because his disobedience had caused his life to be barren.  His last act of desperation was consulting a witch for spiritual advice.  This was a direct contradiction of God’s commands and the epitome of Saul’s barren life.  As a consequence, he lost his kingdom and eventually lost his life (1 Samuel 31:4).  God expects His children to live lives demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit not barren ones.

Praise VS Warfare Praise

PraisePraise and warfare praise are similar, yet different in some aspects. Praise is telling God who He is.  It is lifting up the Name of Jesus, acknowledging Jesus as the sovereign King, and giving Him the honor that is due his Name. Praise often precedes worship. It is the way we approach God,”Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise…”(psalm 100:4).

Warfare praise serves an entirely different function.  It is a shout of victory that precedes a battle.  It is a defiant shout in the face of the enemy just before engagement.  You are telling the enemy that you are not afraid of him and that you will vanquish him.  Gideon and his three hundred men shouted in praise, and the Midianite army, a much larger force, was vanquished.  God threw the Midianite army into confusion causing their defeat (Judges 7).  Warfare praise is militaristic. It shows God that you are willing to stand and face the enemy regardless of his size because you know that God is on your side.

You cannot have warfare praise without warfare.  It precedes battle in the spirit realm.  After you praise or shout defiantly,  you plunge headlong into battle.  The enemy trembles at your shout of praise because he knows that the Lord sits enthroned on your praises.  The lord responds to praise and enters  the battle and fights on your behalf.

Warfare praise is spontaneous. It is praise that emanates  from your spirit man as directed by the Holy Spirit.  It is not something that you can decide to do on a whim.  You must first be in a battle situation, facing the enemy who wants to annihilate you.  The praise flows from your spirit and up through your mouth.  You then open your mouth and the sounds of war flows from your inner man, through your lips.  The enemy hears and knows that he is facing a fearless defiant army.  You, as an individual, are a majority with God on your side.

Fear has no part in warfare praise.  A soldier who is filled with fear will run instead of fight.  God told Gideon to send home all the soldiers who were fearful. The other three hundred soldiers who remained did God’s will fearlessly and God brought the victory.  Many persons are reluctant to do battle in the realm of the spirit because of fear of spirit backlash.  Many fear that there will be consequences if they engage the enemy.  Others do not war because they do not know the authority they have over the enemy and his demons.  Jesus has given his disciples authority over Satan, who is called the enemy, and his demons (Luke 10:19).

A warrior who is reluctant to enter the warzone and engage the enemy will never experience warfare praise.  This will only be experienced by those who are ready and willing to war in the spirit realm. Reluctance to enter the battle is a form of cowardice and God cannot use you to fight the battles that need to be fought.  Praise is a mighty weapon and children of God should not hesitate to use it against the enemy.

God Provided The Way

The wayGod has been providing a way for man since the beginning of creation.  God created Adam, the first man in God’s own image, a perfect being. But Adam  sinned by eating the forbidden fruit. Adam’s sin caused the entire human race to come under condemnation.  The bible says “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:11-13, KJV).

Adam had a relationship with God before the fall, “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” Genesis 3:8 KJV).  This relationship was like one between close buddies. But sin ruined that perfect relationship and caused a separation between Adam and God, Between man and his creator.  Sin marred God’s perfect creation and severed that vital relationship.  But God had a plan. He was going to provide a way to restore the relations God did not abandon man his beloved creation.   God created a way to reunite or reconcile man to himself and to renew the relationship that was destroyed by man’s disobedience .  But to accomplish this, sin had to be removed from man because it was sin that severed the relationship.

Anything that contrary to God’s Word(the bible) is unrighteousness and all unrighteousness is sin (1John 5:17,KJV).  Sin also brought death because  ” The wages of sin is death”( Romans 6:23, KJV) This means that everyone has an unavoidable appointment with death. Sin brought not only physical death but also spiritual death. Spiritual death is eternal separation from God. But had a plan to provide a way to escape the permanent separation of death.  The way was Jesus Christ, the son of God.

The entire world was guilty of sinning against God and  going to hell.   There was no way to avoid this.  But, God had a plan of redemption, a way to save fallen man from eternal damnation in hell.  The plan needed someone who was sinless to sacrifice his life and die for those who had sinned.  This was the only way and it involved a sacrifice for sin.  God would accept this sacrifice of atonement and forgive all those who had sinned, which is everyone who has ever lived. Jesus Christ was the only person God could use to provide a way to save mankind.

Jesus Christ, God’s only Son was the only one who qualified to become the atoning sacrifice for sin and provide a way to save fallen man.. He came to earth and was born as a baby. His mother’s name was Mary, but his father is God. Jesus, therefore did not have the sinful nature of man but the sinless nature of God.  Jesus lived thirty three years in this world and did not sin once, neither in word, in thought or in deed. He was the sinless Lamb of God who surrendered his life as an atoning sacrifice on Calvary two thousand years ago. He came with a message(the gospel) and offered himself as a sacrifice for sin to provide a way for mankind.

Jesus died for the sin of every man, woman and child who ever live or will ever live.  He took the sin of the world on himself as if He had committed sin, and paid the price for sin which is death.  This was all a part of God’s plan to provide a way to save mankind.  Jesus faced death for everyone, atoned for sin and provided a way of escape by offering salvation to everyone.  Jesus did all of this out of love,  to provide a way for mankind,”for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting live ” (John 3:16,KJV).  The way out was Jesus and He did it because of His love for you.

Now, whoever desires to have their sins forgiven can do so by accepting Jesus’ finished work on Calvary, the way to God. Jesus has already provided the way because He is the way, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me”John 14:6,KJV).  All you need to do is pray and ask God to forgive you of all your sins and invite the the Lord Jesus into your heart.  He will come in and He will forgive you of all your sins and make you a new creature, “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things have become new” (Corinthians 5:17, KJV). This can happen for you today, Just ” believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31, KJV).  The way has already been provided, why not accept it today?

I have it said that there is more than one way to god.  But Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6). If you do not follow the way, you will never get to God because Jesus is the way.  If you want to accept the Jesus, who is the only way to God,  into your heat today, go toprayer of confession to receive salvation in the side bar area.  Pray that prayer and believe and you can start a new relationship with Jesus today. Go to Jesus in prayer today, don’t delay because He is the way.  He has already provided the way.

Pray And Do Not Faint

When adverse situations arise suddenly and without warning

When everything seems to be going wrong

When it seems like the devil has unleashed the armies of hell against you

When your boss becomes mad at you for no apparent reason

When your friends turn against you

Prayer unlocks the door to the throne room of God.  Prayer can turn adverse situations around.  Through prayer, you can receive divine favor.  Prayer in the name of Jesus  appropriates the power of God to be used on your behalf.

Prayer and praise go together like twins.  Praise is telling God how majestic, powerful, and awesome He is. Praise honors God and gives Him the respect he deserves as a sovereign king. The bible says in Psalm 22:3 that God inhabits the praises of his people, “But thou art Holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”(KJV)  The bible also says in psalmm100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise….”(KJV  Praise prepares you to meet the King of kings (Jesus) and ushers you into His presence. Once you are in His presence, you can pray and ask him for or tell him whatever you want.

Prayer indeed changes things because God intervenes when His people pray to Him.

God Is In Control

God is in controlGod is in control of every situation that concerns you.  God loves you.  God sometimes allows situations in your life for your good and also to bring  glory and honor to His name.  But remember is God is in control.  There is nothing that could possibly happen to you that will catch God by surprise.  He knows everything.  He knows the end from the beginning.  Always remember that God is in control.

I remember as a young boy in school, I wanted to become a medical doctor.  I wanted that more than anything in the world.  It was more important to me than anything else.  I focused and studied hard throughout high school and into college.  I prayed for God to take me through and He did.   I knew then what I know now, that God is in control.

I got accepted into medical school in 1990.  I was elated.  My dream was coming through.  I was determined to be the best and most knowledgeable doctor I could.  This in my opinion was not an unrealistic goal.  But there was a problem.  The problem was that becoming a doctor had taken the place of God in my life.  You see, becoming a doctor had become an idol in life.  It was the thing I worshiped instead of  God.  The bible says in Exodus chapter20 verse 3,”Thou shalt no other gods before me.”  I was violating God’s commandment.  I had forgotten that God is in control.

Now don’t get me wrong, God is not a tyrant sitting in the heavens and waiting to disappoint you the first change He gets.  God loves you so much that he does not want you to make mistakes that will devastate you.  He wants the best for you but He will not accept worship  and adoration to another ‘god’ because He is the only God.  He knows everything about you and He will never violate your will because God is in control.  Neither will God bless anything that is contrary to His will.  You get to choose to follow the lord Jesus or not.  But, regardless of what you do, God is in control.

I did not make it past the first year in medical school.  I was devastated.  I was angry at everyone and I was angry at God.  I did not realize then what I know now that God is in control.  But, I finally realized years later after I had gotten over my heart and disappointment, that not becoming a doctor was the best thing that ever happened to me, besides accepting the Lord Jesus into my heart. I understood, that if I had become a doctor, I would have been a self reliant hypocrite. I do not believe that I would have committed my life to the Lord Jesus.  There would not have been any place for God in my life.  God was directing my life even through the painful circumstance of seeing my dream shattered.  I believed that I had gotten where I was by my own efforts alone.  That was a terrible way to think.  Jesus was the one who gave me the strength and the intelligence to make it through college and into medical school.Today I am happy that God is in control.

I once met a young man who argued that God had not done anything for him, but this young man had his health and his strength.  A lot of people are bedridden are not blessed like this young man, yet he doesn’t believe that God is in control.  Some scientists deny that God is in control.  Some people worship wealth not thinking that God is in control.  Someone may declare ‘I am a self made man,’  yet they cannot stop the inevitability of death because God is in control.  The person who waits until he is about to die and cry out ‘O God’ knows that God is in control.

God deserves all the glory, not me because God is in control.  If you are going through a similar situation, remember always put God first and give Him all the glory.   It may be a difficult thing to do but remember it could be a lot worse.  The enemy or Satan would try to kill you but God is in control.  You are not dead because of God’s mercy.  It may seem like everything is coming against you but God is in control. God is the one who will see you through because God is in control.

Prayer To Receive Salvation

If you want to accept the Lord Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and savior, Please repeat the prayer below.

Dear god in the name of Jesus

I come before you confessing all my sins

I  repent and turn away from everything that does not glorify your name

Come into my heart lord Jesus

Forgive me of all my sins

Wash away all my sins with your blood

live big within me

And with your grace assisting me

I will live for you.

If you have said the above prayer and you are truly sincere about what you prayed, then the Lord Jesus has come into your heart, and He is living on the inside of you at this moment.  Also, the angels in heaven are rejoicing because you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ.  You are special to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Your life is precious in His eyes.

There are three things we advise every young convert to do.

  • Read the Word of God-the Bible

The Word of God is spiritual food. It will help you to grow spiritually as you learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ. Begin reading the book of John in the new testament. we have discovered that this is the easiest book for young Christians to read and understand.

  • Pray to Jesus

Pray to God in the name of Jesus. Prayer is talking to God as you would talk to a friend. Simply say ‘ Father God, in the Name of Jesus ….’ When you talk to Jesus, He will talk back to you. You must listen and learn to recognize His voice.

Worship and fellowship at a bible believing church

Find a bible believing church where the Word of God is peached uncompromisingly.  This is also very important for you to grow spiritually.  You need to fellowship one on one with other believers in Jesus Christ.

*** I have used ‘Jesus’ and ‘God’ interchangeably because ‘Jesus’ and ‘God’ are one and the same.***

May god continually bless you in your christian walk. Continue to trust in the lord Jesus Christ and He will see you through any situation.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…” (Isaiah 54:17 KJV)

“…Be strong in the Lord and the power of his might.”( Ephesians 6:10 KJV)
